Press Blocking

I am knitting Fanny from Rowan's Big Just Got Bigger. I'm so nearly done! BUT I'm suppose to block out each piece and gently press each piece with a warm iron over a damp cloth.

It's big fat yarn, and it seems to me that it looks just fine without the pressing. Do I have to do this? Anyone have any suggestions?! I don't want to do this, it seems like a big pain in the arse. I can understand doing this with different yarn, but Rowan Big Wool? Ok, I must admit... I just want to wear the jacket/sweater thing!! I don't want to waste time on this step if I don't have too, although I'll willing too.

Blocking always helps natural fibers look better- sometimes the difference is surprising. The method of blocking they suggest is even quicker than, say, giving it all a full hand wash... it really, truly will make Fanny look better!! Hope you finish soon...
